Women’s Basketball Drops First Game of Season

Bucs fell to Lee University Friday afternoon

DAVIE, Fla. -- Start of the 2015-16 season did not start out like Barry women's basketball hoped it would as it fell 75-50 to Lee.

Taking place at Nova Southeastern, the Buccaneers started the season on a flat note, falling behind by seven before scoring their first points.

However, the Bucs would center themselves in the second quarter, outscoring the Flames 23-14, and obtaining their lead of the season right before halftime, going into the locker room with a 34-33 lead.

However, in the third quarter, the Flames would go on a run, outscoring the Bucs 25-9, giving Lee a permanent lead which they would keep for the rest of the game, winning 75-50.

Amra Elezovic led the team with 17 points in the game, Jackie Perez lead the team with six assists and two steals, as well as 11 points. She also made a team-leading three 3-pointers, putting one behind the all-time Barry record.

Scoring their first points for Barry in the game were senior Ivana Vuletic (5), and freshmen Juhnae Richardson (2) and Melanie Jordan (2).

Up next for the Bucs is a return to Davie for a matchup with North Alabama. Tipoff is slated for noon, tomorrow.
