ST.PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A late attempt at a comeback was not enough for Barry men's soccer as the Buccaneers fell to SSC opponent Eckerd, 2-1.
The Bucs suffered their first loss of the season in a hard fought match that was close in a goal-less first half with the Tritons outshooting Barry 5-4.
In the second half, the Bucs would go down a goal early as in the 54
th minute, Eckerd's Nick Jackson scored from the middle of the box to the Tritons up 1-0. On the assist was Juan David-Tejada.
The Bucs would attempt to equalize for the next few minutes, getting off four shots but not being able to put one away.
This inability to score would come to haunt them as Eckerd scored again in the 68
th minute with a header goal by Jackson. The goal was assisted by Richard Ainscough.
The Bucs would soon put one back as
Frank Lustig scored his first goal of the season in the 76
th minute with a header off a
Pablo Georgakopoulos cross.
For the remaining minutes of the game, the Bucs would attempt to get an equalizing goal, but it was not to be as they fell for the first time this season.

Bo Haug had a season-high six saves in 90 minutes of work, while Eckerd keeper Alex Gott had one.
The Bucs stand at 5-1-2, 1-1-1 in the SSC while Eckerd improves to 7-0-1 and 3-0-1 in the SSC.
Up next for the Bucs is a home game against SSC foe, Rollins on Saturday, Oct. 10. The game is slated to kick off at 7 PM at Buccaneer Field.
