Men's Soccer Drops Conference Match To Rollins

Bucs fall 3-1

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The tenth-ranked Barry Buccaneers dropped their second straight conference decision, 3-1, to the Rollins Tars on Saturday night in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action at Buccaneer Field.

The Tars (5-6-0, 3-3-0 SSC) scored once in the first half and twice in second. Grant Blackhurst broke the scoring ice in the 28th minute. Tosan Popo sent a cross in from the right side fo the box and found Blackhurst unmarked at the top of the six for the one-touch goal.

Alexis Martinez made it 2-0 Rollins in the 56th minute. Johnny Nartowitz sent in a long cross from the right and Martinez got a head on it for the goal.

Barry (5-2-2, 1-2-1 SSC) trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the 79th minute.Manuel Perez came out on top of a scramble in front of the Tars' goal after a cross by Nyle Patel.

The Tars closed the scoring in the 86th minute. Tosan Popo assisted Brett Dorrance on another header goal.

Drew Trautman had nine saves for the Tars to earn his first win. Bo Haug had three saves for the Bucs.

The Bucs face the Flagler Saints on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 4:30 pm in a non-conference matchup.
