MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Ranked #10 in the latest NSCAA top 25 poll, Barry men's soccer heads to St. Petersburg to take on Sunshine State Conference foe, Eckerd.
The two teams come into Wednesday night's clash undefeated, and first and second in the SSC standings, making this game crucial to their goal of a conference title.
The Buccaneers come into the game 5-0-2 and 1-0-1 in the SSC. Last week, the Bucs continued their undefeated streak with a 2-0 win over SSC foe, Florida Southern. Goals by
Manuel Perez and
Thomas Coombes late in the game sealed the win for the Bucs.
Perez and Coombes are currently tied for the team lead in goals with five, while forward
Patrick Drmola is right behind them with four goals on the year.
Bucs goalkeeper
Bo Haug posted his third shutout of the year against FSC and has 17 saves on the year.
Facing the Bucs is an undefeated Tritons team that will be looking to pull off an upset and they have several threats that could help them do so.
Similar to Barry, Eckerd is in the middle of a competition for the team-lead in goals with midfielders Richard Ainscough, Rush Wesleigh and forward Matheus Assumpcao are all tied with four goal a-piece.
Ainscough is also tied with forward Wyeth Leemon for the team-lead in assists with three.
In the net, sophomore Alex Gott has five shutouts and 28 saves on year. He's allowed just two goals all season.
A win for the Bucs would see their undefeated streak extend to eight games and put them in firm position at the top of the SSC.
The game is slated to kick off at 7 PM, all the action can be watch and followed
