Men's Soccer Takes On FSC

The Bucs aim to put themselves in thick of SSC title race

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Coming in undefeated on the season, Barry men's soccer aims to continue its good fortunes when it takes on Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Southern, Saturday at 7 PM.

Last year, the two teams traded blowout victories with Barry falling 4-1 in Lakeland, while winning 5-0 on Senior Day here in Miami Shores.

The Buccaneers come in 4-0-2 on the year with a 0-0-1 record in the SSC. Last week, the Bucs tied defending national champion Lynn 2-2 and had their game versus Saint Leo postponed to a later date due to inclement weather.

Standouts for this year for Barry have been forwards Thomas Coombes and Patrick Drmola, and midfielder Manuel Perez, the trio all share the team-lead in goals scored with three a-piece. Last week against Lynn, Perez scored a brace to equalize for the Bucs.

In the net, junior goalkeeper Bo Haug has 17 saves in 560 minutes played this year, with two shutouts to his credit.

Facing the Bucs is a Florida Southern team that comes in 2-6-0 on the season with a 1-2 record in conference play. Last time out for the Mocs was a 1-0 win over SSC opponent Tampa, last Wednesday.

FSC players that could prove threats to the Bucs includes four players who share the team-lead in goals with one each. These players, Jordyn Henderson, Jimmy Oatman, Jonathan Radvogin, and Carl Spansk, will look to add to their tallies this weekend.

In the net for the Mocs, junior Cole Clingerman leads the team with 27 saves in eight games played.

A win on Saturday will put the Bucs in the thick of the SSC title race with the Bucs within one game of conference leader Eckerd. Game is slated to kickoff at 7 PM.
