MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers battled the weather and the Flagler Saints for a 3-2 win at Buccaneer Field in men's soccer action on Tuesday.
Patrick Drmola scored his first career hat trick to lead the Bucs (6-2-2) to the win. He got the scoring in the 20th minute. Sergio Yepes gave him a feed just outside the box and Drmola knocked in it past Saints keeper Lex Cragg.
The Saints (4-4-1) knotted the game at 1-1 in the 26th minute. Erlend Lofsgaard fed Pedro Silva and the Saints' leading scorer found the back of the net.
The Bucs broke the half-time tie just over three minutes into the period on another goal by Drmola. Nyle Patel fed the ball up the right side and Drmola's blast from 15 yards caromed off of Cragg and the crossbar before ending up in the net.
In the 58th minute, Drmola completed his hat trick. Frank Lustig's free kick came down in the box at Drmola's feet and he did the rest.
In the 71st minute, lightning delayed the game for over an hour and, after the break, the Saints came out with renewed energy, cutting the lead to one on a goal by Jackie Kay after a free kick by Jonny Cosgrove in the 82nd minute.
The Saints nearly had the equalizer just a minute later, but the goal was waived off when the Saints were ruled offside.
Bo Haug six saves to pick up the win for the Bucs, while Cragg also had six saves in taking the loss.
The Bucs host the Tampa Spartans on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7:00 pm. Barry will recognize the senior class in a ceremony prior to the game.
