ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.—The fourth-ranked Barry University women's tennis team advanced to the championship match of the 2011 Sunshine State Conference Women's Tennis Tournament on Friday morning with a 5-0 win over the #9 Rollins College Tars.

The Bucs started the morning posting a perfect 3-0 mark in doubles. At the top flight, the secod-ranked team of Barbi Pocza and Angie Werschel beat Margaret Junker and Kayli Ragsdale 9-8 (8-6). Alex Gwizdowski and Laura Boguet defeated Lisa Loft and Stefania Tkach 8-4 at the second flight. At No. 3 doubles, Julie Stas and Olivia Matuszak downed Roshni Luthra and Allie Steele 8-6.

In singles action, the Bucs only needed two points to take the win. Those points came in the fourth flight and at No. 6. At No. 4 singles, Matuszak blanked Tkach 6-0, 6-0. In the sixth flight, Mona Monsour didn't allow Ashley Rosenberg to take a game, winning 6-0, 6-0.

With the win, the Bucs will face #3 Lynn in the championship match tomorrow at 9:00 am. Both the Bucs and Knights are flawless so far in the tournament, taking 5-0 wins in both of their matches. The Bucs downed Saint Leo 5-0 yesterday while Lynn beat Tampa yesterday and Florida Tech today, both by a 5-0 score.
