MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University women's tennis team beat the top-ranked NCAA Division III Amherst College Lady Jeff's on Saturday afternoon. The Bucs only surrendered one point in singles and one in doubles.
At the top doubles flight, the fourth-ranked team of
Barbi Pocza and
Angie Werschel fell 8-4 to Jordan Brewer and Gabby Devlin.
In singles action, #14 Pocza took a 6-1, 6-2 win over Brewer at the top flight. Werschel, ranked #23, defeated Danzig 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Playing in the third flight, Boguet nearly blanked Carlissa King, winning 6-0, 6-1. Mona Monsour earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brown at number five singles while Stas beat Mimi Bell 6-1, 6-3 in the final singles flight.
Caroline Wendling dropped the only singles match for Barry, she fell 6-2, 6-3 to Devlin.
The Bucs return to action tomorrow for a conference matchup against Saint Leo at 10:00 am.
