OPA LOACK, Fla.—The Barry University baseball team earned their seventh win of the season on Sunday afternoon, beating the Florida Memorial Lions 10-1.
Florida Memorial (5-8) got on the board in the third inning when Erick Yglesias reach on a single and was brought home on a Buccaneer error.
The Bucs (7-5) tied it up in the fourth when Jack Valdez hit a double and came in off a
James Young double. The Bucs took the 2-1 lead in the fifth when
Yas Gutierrez hit a solo homer to right field.
In the eighth, Ashley,
Luis Arrizurieta and Garcia singled. Ashley came in on the Garcia single while Arrizurieta and Garcia came home off a
Drew Dwelly double.
Young scored the Bucs' final run in the ninth. Young hit a double and Shaw drove him in minutes later.
For the Buccaneers,
Charley Short earned the win. He moves to 2-1 for the season. The Bucs return to action on Thursday, March 4 when they take on Nova Southeastern on the road at 6:00 pm.
