TAMPA, Fla.—Cold shooting brought down the 13th-ranked Barry Buccaneers as they fell 64-45 to the Tampa Spartans in the Martinez Center in Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball action on Saturday.
With the Bucs leading 30-29 with 17:20 left in the second half, the Spartans rolled off a 24-4 run over the next nine minutes as Barry connected on just two of their next 11 shots from the field. In all, the Bucs hit just four of 25 from the field in the second period.
Kristy Singletary led the Bucs with 15 points. Tiara Cook paced Tampa with 20 points, while Kym Taylor and Gianna Messina each had 11.
The Bucs return home on Wednesday, Jan. 21 to take on the Lynn Fighting Knights in the Health & Sports Center at 5:30 pm.
