MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry baseball team dropped the opener of a Sunshine State Conference series to the Eckerd Tritons 7-6 at Feinbloom Field on Friday night.
The Tritons (13-27, 4-12 SSC) blasted starter
Ray Rhoads for seven runs on seven hits in two plus innings. Alfredo Cabale and Tim Couet hit homers and Pat Bordieri added a two-run triple.
Nick Corbeil added a two-run homer, his 13
th, in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 7-6, but that was as close as the Bucs could get.
Josh Stroup (6-4) picked up the win for the Tritons. He went six innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and three walks, striking out five. Pat Feehan picked up his third save with a perfect ninth. Rhoads (5-1) took the loss for the Bucs. Mike Davila tossed seven innings of three-hit relief, walking one and striking out a career-high 10.
The series concludes with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 22 at noon.
