FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team (13-2, 6-0 SSC) continued their perfect start to the conference schedule with its second sweep of the season, defeating the Nova Southeastern Sharks (7-7, 0-3 SSC) 7-2 and 8-0 in doubleheader action on Saturday night at the A.D. Griffin Sports Complex on NSU's main campus in Davie.
The Bucs were led at the plate by 1B
Maile Keeney as she finished the night 5-for-8 (.625 BA) with 1 double and 3 RBIs, while teammate
Shyla Rider finished with a 3-for-7 (.429 BA) performance, notching 1 triple, 1 run scored and 3 RBI.
Barry jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in game one after Keeney doubled up the middle, allowing Rider to score. NSU took the lead in the bottom of the second as both 1B Callie Binkley and pinch-run Jada Phillips scored.
However, the Bucs answered right back to tie the game with a run of their own in the top of the third as Christina DeTagle scored off a triple to right center by Rider. Barry took the advantage in the top of the fourth as
Katie Arnone hit a sacrifice-fly to right field, allowing
Holli Davis to score from third.
The Bucs put the game out of reach in the top of the sixth, adding four runs on two hits to take game one 7-2.

Amber Jack notched her fifth win of the season in game one as she finished the first game allowing only 2 runs on 6 hits, while throwing 3 strikeouts. NSU Adrian Tuttle fell to 4-5 on the season as she pitched six innings, allowing 7 runs on 6 hits, while throwing 6 strikeouts.
The bats continued to swing for the Bucs in game two as they built a 3-0 cushion in the top of the third. The lead continued to grow as two runs were scored in the top of the sixth, and three more were added in the top of the seventh. The Bucs have now recorded their seventh shutout of the season.
Ramie Garcia improved to 4-1 on the mound as she shut out the Sharks, allowing only 2 hits, while striking out seven batters in game two. Sharks' pitcher Shannon Lynch received her second loss of the season, as she allowed 8 runs on 10 hits, while only striking out two batters.
The Buccaneers will return to action on Monday, Mar. 6 at 5 pm against Valdosta State
