Baseball Squeaks Out Win Over Rams

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Jesse Naber came on to retire six of seven batters to close out an 8-6 win over Philadelphia University at Feinbloom Field on Sunday.
 
The Bucs (10-6) struck early against Rams' starter Andrew Brewster, scoring five runs in the first two innings. The top of the order accounted for four runs and three RBI, with Alex Meneses, Jerry Thornton and Cesar Aranguren each knocking in one.
 
But the Rams (0-2) rallied back in the fifth and seventh innings, scoring three runs in each to make the game interesting. Mario Zapicchi had a two-run single in the fifth and drove in another in the seventh.
 
Bobby Hernandez (1-0) picked up the win in his first start. He allowed three runs on five hits and two walks, with one strikeout in five innings. Naber worked the last two innings for his first save.
 
Brewster (0-1) took the loss for the Rams. He allowed seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and two walks, with two strikeouts. He also hit three batters.
 
The Bucs return to Feinbloom Field on Monday, Mar. 6 against the Dowling College Lions at 6:00 pm.
