MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Ramie Garcia (Sr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) picked up her sixth shutout of the season to lead the Barry University softball team (26-7, 10-3 SSC) to a six 8-0 romping of the Lynn Fighting Knights (22-13, 4-9 SSC) in Sunshine State Conference action on Friday night at Buccaneer Field.

Maile Keeney (Jr., Longwood, Fla.) drove in Barry's first run with an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Bucs an early 1-0 lead. In the second, Katie Arnone (Sr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) led off with a double and later scored on a throwing error by the Lynn right fielder, while Shyla Rider (Fr., Woodbridge, Va.) plated Jackie Godwin (Sr., Tampa, Fla.) with a fielder's choice RBI to extend Barry's lead, 3-0.

The Bucs were scoreless in the third, but a three-run fourth gave Barry a 6-0 lead. Cristina DeTagle (So., North Miami Beach, Fla.), Ashley Loose (Jr., Mill Creek, Wash.), and Kim Fujimoto (Sr., Carmichael, Calif.) each picked up an RBI for the Bucs in the inning.

The Buccaneers finally sealed the win in the sixth when Loose hit a two-RBI double that plated Rider and DeTagle for the NCAA mercy rule win, 8-0.

Garcia (11-3) hurled a two-hit, six-inning shutout and struck out six to earn the win for Barry, while Rachel Foster (10-5) gave up seven hits, six runs (five earned), walked three and struck out one in the loss for Lynn.
