MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—
Jayson Brown struck out 11 in a complete-game shutout and
Nick Corbeil smashed his sixth home run of the season as the Barry Buccaneers took the first game of a Sunshine State Conference baseball series from the Rollins Tars 2-0 at Feinbloom Field on Friday night.
Brown (4-3) went the distance for the first time this season, allowing just five hits and two walks. David Nathanson (3-3) nearly matched him, going the distance for Rollins and allowed two runs on seven hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out 10.
The Bucs got on the board in the fourth inning.
Cesar Aranguren led off with a bunt single and came around to score on a base hit by Corbeil. Corbeil's solo shot in the sixth inning provided an insurance run.
Aranguren and Corbeil both had two hits, as did
Bobby Hartney. Gene Howard led the Tars with three hits, including a double.
The Team conclude their SSC series on Saturday at noon.
