Baseball Walks Past Knights

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers used a six-run fifth inning to defeat the Nova Southeastern Knights 9-2 in the a non-Sunshine State Conference baseball game at Feinbloom Field on Tuesday night.

The Bucs (22-15) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Knights (23-12) clawed back with two runs of their own in the second inning.

In the fifth, the Bucs sent 11 men to the plate to score six runs. Ricky Sanchez had a two-run single and two more runs came around on walks.

Mike Davila (2-1) earned the win with six strong innings. He allowed two runs on six hits and struck out three without a walk. Chris Callahan (4-2) took the loss for the Knights. He allowed four runs on four hits and two walks in 4.1 innings, striking out one.

Alex Meneses, Fausto Faraldo and Bobby Hartney each had two hits, while Faraldo and Sanchez drove in two each and Meneses, Hartney and Cesar Aranguren each scored two runs. Steve Smith led the Knights with two hits.

The Bucs will host the Lynn Knights in an SSC series at Feinbloom Field on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game begins at 6:00 pm, while Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 1:00 pm.
