MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Danny Eilers (7-2) retired the first 16 batters and finished with a three-hit shutout as the Lynn Knights took the rubber game of their Sunshine State Conference baseball series from the Barry Buccaneers 5-0 at Feinbloom Field on Sunday.

The Knights (27-14, 10-5 SSC) got one run in the first inning on an RBI single from Cale Crews, then scored three runs in the second off Barry starter Luis Gazitua (2-1). Tommy Tickenoff led off with a single and Rick Davis and Michael Pederson walked to load the bases. Raymond Perez drove in two runs with a base hit to right and Pederson scored the third run as he and Perez worked a double steal.

The Bucs (23-17, 5-10 SSC) did not get a baserunner until the six inning when Andrew Frezza singled with one out. The Bucs loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning, but Brian Lima grounded into an inning-ending double play to kill the Bucs best scoring chance.

Pederson drove in Tickenoff with a single in the eighth to close the scoring.

Eilers completed the shutout, allowing just three singles and faced three men over the minimum. He struck out five. Gazitua worked one inning, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks. Jon Adams pitched five hitless innings in relief, walking two and striking out two for Barry.

The Bucs host the Nova Southeastern Knights on Tuesday, Apr. 12 at 6:00 pm in their next outing.
