SAVANNAH, Ga.—The Barry Buccaneers recovered to win the final game of a three-game road trip 8-5 over the Wingate Bulldogs on Sunday at AASU Pirate Field.
The Bucs scored four runs in the second inning.
Brian Lima had an RBI triple and
Jerry Thornton plated two runs with a single.
Jesse Naber also drove in a run.
The Bucs plated two more in the third inning and single runs in the fourth and seventh and held off a Wingate rally in the late innings for the win.
Starter
Greg Dicso (1-1) carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning for the second straight start. He held the Bulldogs to two unearned runs on four hits and three walks in 6.2 innings.
Ray Rhoads tossed a perfect ninth for his first save of the season.
Andy McKinney (0-2) took the loss for Wingate. He pitched six innings, but allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and five walks. He did strikeout seven batters.
David San Juan led the Bucs at the plate going three-for-three and scoring one run. Lima and
Cesar Aranguren each had two hits. Bryan Baylis and Jon Svanda each had two hits for Wingate, with Svanda driving in two runs.
The Buc return home on Tuesday night, Feb. 15 to face the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles before heading to St. Leo, Fla., for the Bob Tewksbury Classic, hosted by the Lions.
