Box Score JACKSON, Tenn.--The Barry Buccaneers ignited their offense in beating the Union Bulldogs 5-2 in men's soccer action on Wednesday.

Ricardo Raposo and Lee Yakubowich each scored twice and Mike Lupton added a penalty kick goal as the Bucs improved to 2-1-0.

Raposo broke the scoring ice early, taking a steal at the top of the 18-yard box and converting it into a goal at the 15:04 mark.

Seven minutes later, a scrum in front of the Bulldogs goal resulted in a hand ball foul and Lupton put in the penalty kick.

The Bulldogs narrowed the lead at 35:57. Craig Clark lifted a long free kick into the box and Gareth Munro drilled it home when the Bucs were unable to make a clearance.

Barry got the goal right back, however, as Yakubowich, who had just checked in, took a brilliant feed from Mahlon Sullivan and fired home a point-blank shot past Bulldog keeper Chris Lean.

In the second half, Union struck first at the 54:16 mark, cutting the lead back to one. Clark again was the instigator, lifting a corner kick to the far post where Carl Strickland slipped it past the Bucs' Chris Rich.

Just two minutes later, Raposo had the answer, firing in a direct kick from 25 yards that dribbled through Lean's hands and into the net.

Yakubowich put the nail in the Bulldogs coffin in the 83rd minute. Andres Lozano fed the ball long up through the middle and Kiriakos Michailidis chipped in a cross from the left wing to find Yakubowich unmarked near the top of the six-yard box.

Rich made one save for the Bucs and Greg Anderson swept another off the line. Lean had nine saves, keeping the game closer than it might have been.

Barry renews the annual "Battle of the Bucs" against Christian Brothers on Friday, Sept. 10 at 7:00 pm.
