Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. -- Despite racking up 16 shots to the opposition's 12, the Barry University men's soccer team (1-1-0) fell to the Montevallo Falcons 1-0 earlier this afternoon at Varsity Field.
In the first half, the Falcon's struck hard and early when Tommy Robinson notched the game-winning goal at the 3:45 mark to give Montevallo an early 1-0 advantage.
Early in the second half, the Buccaneer defense began to shut down the Falcons' early surge allowing them only three shots to Barry's nine. However, unable to capitalize, the Bucs suffered their first loss of the season 1-0.
Chris Rich (1-1-0) stopped four shots for the Bucs, but suffered his first loss of the season.
The Buccaneers return to the friendly confines of Buccaneer Field on Monday, Sept. 6 for the 2004 home opener against cross-town rival St. Thomas at 5 pm.
