MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University women's tennis team placed four members on the Sunshine State All-Conference team, while the men's team placed a total of five when it was announced earlier today by Commissioner Don Landry.
On the women's side, Natascha Loebnitz was a two time winner earning first team honors in both singles and doubles, while
Greta Trotman was also named to the first team for her singles play. Maria Lopez was placed on the first team along with Loebnitz for doubles and Arabella Martin rounded out the group earning All-SSC Honorable Mention in just her first season.
For the men, Gerold Wiring and
Thomas Hipp both earned first team honors in singles and doubles, while Sebastian Losavio also was named first team for his singles play. Victor Rodriguez was named to the second team for singles in just his first year at Barry, while Losavio and Filip Norrman both earned Honorable Mention honors for doubles.
The women's team finished the 2004 season at 14-11 overall and fell one win short of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The men finished at 21-6 on the year and advanced to the national tourney for the second year in a row, however, were eliminated in the first round when they fell 5-0 to North Florida.
