Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers fell 54-47 to the Florida Tech Panthers in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action Wednesday night in the Health & Sports Center.
The loss drops Barry into a tie with the Panthers for third place in the conference.
The Panthers (15-11, 9-4 SSC) jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the first eight minutes, but Barry (14-12, 9-4 SSC) bounced back with a 14-2 run to go up 20-13 on a three-pointer by Eva Rojo at the 5:23 mark. The Bucs maintained an eight-point lead into the half, 27-19.
At the start of the second half, Barry seemed in charge and they maintained their eight-point lead at the 11:36 mark on a three-pointer by Nikki Collins. But the Panthers took control from there, closing the game with a 24-9 run.
The Panthers out-shot the home-standing Bucs 34-7 from the free throw line. Though the Bucs did not miss a shot from the line, the Panther held a 13-point advantage.
Roslyn Nelson paced the Panthers with 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Sarah added 10 points. Yashica Nesbit led Barry with nine points.
The Bucs close out the regular season at Rollins on Saturday, Feb. 28 before heading back to Orlando the next weekend for the conference tournament.
