Box Score ST. LEO, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers escaped with a 62-58 win over the Saint Leo Lions in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action on Saturday from the Marion Bowman Athletic Center.

The first half ebbed back and forth, with three ties and five lead changes. Donisha Williams gave Saint Leo (0-22, 0-10 SSC) a 29-28 lead with :31 seconds left in the half. But Barry's Yojana Rodriguez hit a layup with six seconds left to carry the Bucs into the intermission with a 30-29 lead.

The Bucs (13-11, 8-3 SSC) quickly built an 11-point lead in the second half, capped by a three-pointer by Daphnee Allen at 15:49. But the Lions battled back and, on Rosetta Little's jumper with 10:14 left to play, took a 50-49 lead.

The Lions extended the lead to four, 58-54, with 3:00 minutes remaining on a three-pointer by Shannon Cummings. But the Lions would score no more as Barry closed the game on an 8-0 run behind six points from Yashica Nesbit to win 62-58.

Barry's Karla Mast led four Bucs in double-figures with 14 points. Sanja Zivanovic added 12, Nesbit had 11 and Eva Rojo chipped in 10. Saint Leo's September Harrison led all scorers with 17 points, Little added 14 and Cummings had 10.

The Bucs are off until next Saturday, Feb 21 when they host the Eckerd College Tritons for Homecoming 2004. The women's game tips off at 2:00 pm with the men following at 4:00 pm.

The Saint Leo games will be broadcast on the Sunshine Network on Monday Feb. 16 at 9:00 pm for women and 11:00 pm for men. The games will be shown again on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 10:00 am and noon.
