Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University women's basketball team jousted the Nova Southeastern Knights 56-45 earlier tonight at the Health & Sports Center.
During the first half, fans saw the lead change hands five times during the first 13 minutes of play. However, the Buccaneers (7-7) took a 13-11 lead at the 7:15 mark and never looked back extending their lead to 29-16 at the break.
In the second half, the Buccaneers extended their lead even more leading by 19 with 5:35 left to play, but the Knights (2-10) battled back to narrow the game to 10. However, the gap was too much for the Knights to overcome as the Buccaneers held on for the 56-45 win.
Walk-on freshman, Karla Mast led Barry in scoring for the second consecutive game with 16 points, while Eva Rojo added 10 for the Bucs. Yojanna Rodriguez added a game-high 11 rebounds and three blocks, while Daphnee Allen pulled down 10 boards.
Marvelous Washington led the Knights with 14 points and nine rebounds. Jessica Pate was the only other double-figure scorer with 13 points and added seven rebounds for the Knights.
The Buccaneers will return to action Saturday, Jan. 10 in Lakeland taking on Florida Southern at 7:30 pm.
