Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Nike Invitational closed out with a 3-3 tie between UC Davis and the host Barry Buccaneers on Sunday.
Davis (0-0-2) struck first at 22:37 when Ryan Shaw buried a free kick from 19 yards out. The Aggies held the lead through to intermission.
In the second half,
Abilio Yamane drew the Bucs even by being in the right place at the right time.
Fitzgerald Clarke played a ball from the endline to
Mike Lupton in the box and Lupton's pass found Yamane alone in the middle for the goal.
Yuta Tanaka put the Aggies back ahead at 71:00, just moments after checking in. Tanaka pulled in a short clearance and blasted a shot into the top corner.
Barry (1-2-1) found the answer at 80:21 when
Kevin Lamy fed
Avi Scabini at the top of the penalty box and Scabini blasted a shot to the near post.
The Bucs finally grabbed the lead less than two minutes later.
Avi Scabini lofted a corner kick into the box and
Justin Latapy headed it home.
The lead lasted until the final minute when Shaw added a second free kick goal to knot the game.
Overtime was delayed for 47 minutes due to lightning and neither team could break through in the extra frames.
The Bucs return to action on Friday, Sept. 12 at home against St. Thomas at 5:00 pm.
