Box Score ST. LEO, Fla.--In a game eerily similar to the women's game the day before, Barry and West Florida tied 1-1 in men's soccer on Sunday at Saint Leo's University Field.
The draw keeps the Bucs undefeated at 1-0-1 in South Region play.
After a scoreless first period, Barry (2-2-2) struck first.
Mike Lupton touched the ball past West Florida keeper Alex Cherney and was dragged down from behind in the box. He converted the penalty kick at 51:35, giving the Bucs the lead.
But, just like in the women's game, the Argonauts (3-2-1) struck back with a few minutes to play. West Florida's Stephen Simmons came out of a scrum at the top of Barry's penalty box with the ball and chipped it over keeper
Ido Langer to knot the game at the 79:45 mark.
Neither team could breach the goal in the remaining time, though both teams had golden opportunities.
Cherney made five saves for the Argonauts, but was out-shone by Barry's Langer who stopped 10 shots.
Barry played the final 4:43 down a man when Lupton was ejected.
The Bucs return home on Friday, Sept. 19 at 6:00 pm against the University of Montevallo Falcons.
