Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers evened their record with a 3-0 shutout of St. Thomas at Buccaneer Field Friday night.
The Bucs (2-2-1) got two goals in the first half from
Fitzgerald Clarke and
Avi Scabini put a cap on the game with a goal in the 89th minute.
Clarke got the Bucs on the board at the 14:50 mark.
Mike Lupton fed
Emilio Martinez at the top of the 18-yard box and, after his shot clipped of the crossbar, Clarke poked in the rebound for a 1-0 lead.
Clarke added a second goal just 10 minutes later when
Erick Aristizabal fed Scabini in the middle of the field and he passed to Clarke who eluded two defenders for the goal.
Scabini put the game away just 1:40 from the end as he worked a combo play with Lupton in the middle of the field.
The Buccaneers put together their most cohesive performance of the season as keeper
Ido Langer notched his first career shutout, stopping four shots.
St. Thomas (1-3-0) held a 15-13 edge in shots and a 4-3 edge in corners. Romillio Gomez made two saves for the Bobcats.
The Bucs face West Florida on Sunday, Sept. 14 in a neutral-site game at Saint Leo at 3:00 pm.
