Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers smothered the Florida Southern Moccasins 4-2 in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action at Barnett Field Saturday night.
With the win and Florida tech's 2-1 loss to Rollins, the Bucs will now face Florida Tech in the first round of the SSC Tournament on Tuesday at 4:30 pm at Buccaneer Field.
Mike Lupton got the Bucs on the board just 2:36 into the game with assists from
Avi Scabini and
Mahlon Sullivan. The assist by Scabini, his 15th, breaks the school record of 14 he set last season.
After Peter Schiebel knotted the game at 1-1, Scabini added a goal of his own with an assist from Lupton at the 30:32 mark.
Lupton added another goal, his 14th of the season, just two and a half minutes later to send Barry (13-3-3, 6-1-0 SSC) into the intermission up 3-1.
Thiago Vasconcelos added an insurance goal at the 54:40 mark, dribbling around two defenders in the box.
Boomer Morgan added a late goal for the Moccasins (8-8-1, 2-4-1 SSC) to close the scoring.
Andrey Bustamante picked up his second win of the season for Barry, making one save. Matt Ward stopped seven shots for the Moccasins.
