Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The 19th-ranked Barry University women's soccer team blanked the Rollins Tars 2-0 earlier this afternoon extending the Sunshine State Conference win streak to 37 consecutive wins.

In the first half, the Buccaneers (7-3-2, 5-0-0 SSC) posted 16 shots to the Tars (7-3-0, 2-1-0 SSC) two finally hitting pay dirt at the 44:20 mark when Ulla Matikainen ushered a pass to Emelie Karlsson on the right side of the 18-yard box. Karlsson took the pass and chipped it back across her body to the left side of the net for the goal to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead at the half.

With light rain lingering at the start of the second half, the Tars' defense stiffened to hold the Bucs to nine shots. However, with less than four minutes remaining, Rollins goalkeeper Fran Nicoloso was called for a foul inside the six charging the oncoming Karlsson. The foul set up a penalty kick for Barry's Tammie Thornton, which hit the side post. Taking the rebound, Karlsson chipped in her second goal of the game from eight yards away lifting the Bucs to the 2-0 victory.

The Bucs posted 25 total shots in the victory while holding the Tars to a mere four in the contest.

Barry goalkeeper, Johanna Fischer picked up her third shutout of the season improving her season record to 7-3-2. Nicoloso posted nine saves in the loss for the Tars.

The Buccaneers will return to action in Jacksonville, Fla. on Sunday Oct. 19 taking on highly touted Kennesaw State at 2 pm.
