Box Score TAMPA, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers crushed the Tampa Spartans 5-2 in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action Tuesday night at Tampa's Pepin Field.

The Bucs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first half. Fitzgerald Clarke fed Thiago Vasconcelos for a score at the 5:11 mark and Ricardo Raposo added an unassisted score at 33:22.

But the Spartans stormed back with two goals in the first 16 minutes of the second half by Federico Della Picca and Kareem Escayg with assists each time from Roy Fink.

Raposo had the answer for the Buccaneers in the 78th minute. He drove a shot in from the right wing and deflected it off a Spartan defender and into the goal.

The Bucs (8-2-3, 2-0-0 SSC) tacked on a pair of insurance goals in the final five minutes. Avi Scabini connected from six yards out with assists from Dan Levy and Vasconcelos. Mike Lupton closed out the scoring with three minutes left on a pass from Levy.

Ido Langer had three saves for the Bucs, while Bob Luckenbaugh stopped five shots for the Spartans. Tampa (5-3-3, 0-2-2 SSC) had allowed only 10 goals in their first 10 games.
