Box Score DAVIE, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers and Nova Southeastern Knights played to a 1-1 tie at the NSU Soccer Complex Wednesday night.
The Knights jumped out to a quick lead when Daniel Lange scored in the 11th minute off a cross by Andrew Morris. But Barry's
Thiago Vasconcelos knotted the game at 1-1 in the 44th minute with an assist from
Avi Scabini.
After a scoreless second period, the teams played a wild overtime, with the Knights narrowly missing two chances to come out on top.
In the 95th minute, NSU's Scott Stapleton pushed a shot past a prone
Ido Langer in goal, but
Justin Latapy saved the score by sweeping the ball off the line, just inches from rolling over.
Rasmus Jespersen fired a shot that seemed destined to go in, but time expired with the ball inches off the line.
Langer made six saves for Barry (6-2-3), while Matt Bergansel had eight saves for the Knights (7-2-2).
Barry returns to Buccaneer Field on Saturday, October 4 to open Sunshine State Conference play against the Saint Leo Lions.
