Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — The Barry University women's basketball team opened up its SSC schedule with a win, defeating the Fighting Knights of Lynn University 54-41 Wednesday night at the Health & Sport Center.

The Knights (2-12, 0-1 SSC) came out strong in the first half scoring the first seven point points of the game and at one point saw their lead extend to nine. But Barry (7-7, 1-0 SSC) responded with a 12-2 run to finish the half and found themselves up 16-15 heading into intermission.

In the second half, the Knights again took the early lead, 19-18, with 17:11 to play before the Bucs took over going on a 13-0 run, putting them in front 31-19.

Barry's Amra Alagic led the way for the Bucs, scoring 19 points while shooting 7 of 10 from the floor and Sanja Zivanovic followed with 15 points and pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds.

Lynn's Michele Newman led all scorers with 20 points.

The Bucs return to action Saturday, Jan. 11 when they take on conference opponent Tampa University in Tampa. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 pm. The Bucs return home on Jan. 15 facing Eckerd.
