Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- In the battle of the Bucs, the Barry University men's soccer team blasted Christian Brothers University 5-0 in regional play earlier tonight at Signiago Field.
It was a heated defensive battle in the first half, but Barry's
Dan Levy was the first to break the goal plane in the 29th minute giving Barry a 1-0 advantage on a 20-yard free kick.
After the half,
Alen Marcina delivered a diving header drilling the ball in the back of the net off a
Fitzgerald Clarke 20-yard cross in the 57th minute. Six minutes later, Marcina struck again, this time off a
Greg Jehs and
Avi Scabini combination to give Barry a 3-0 lead.
Damian Bardoni registered his first goal of the season in the 69th minute off a penalty kick giving Barry a 4-0 lead.
However, Barry was not done with the winded Christian Brothers Bucs as Marcina sealed the game with a turn shot in the 88th minute for the hat trick.
Marcina finished the game with three goals, Levy with one, and Bardoni with one.
Chi Chi Soler, Jehs, Clarke, and Scabini each finished with one assist. Barry also out shot Christian Brothers 19-6.
Barry continues its unbeaten streak, improving to 5-0, while Christian Brothers falls to 2-3 on the year. Barry will resume action on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 pm CST kicking off with Central Arkansas in Memphis, Tenn.
