Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--The Barry men's soccer team got the 2002 season off on the right foot with a 2-0 win over the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers on Friday in Huntsville, Ala.
Avi Scabini blasted home the game-winner at the 13:45 mark in the first half.
Emilio Martinez set up the chance with a shot that Charger keeper Nathan Daniels deflected out to Scabini.
Alen Marcina scored the other goal on a penalty kick set up when
Kevin Lamy was fouled in the box by Ryan Mills on a breakaway.
Ron Goguen made six saves to notch his 16th career shutout.
The Chargers out-shot the Bucs 16-15, but the Bucs held an 8-7 edge on goal.
Barry travels to Montevallo on Sunday, September 2 before returning to Miami Shores on Thursday to 5th for the home opener against St. Thomas.
