Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. -- After an expected rain storm just prior to game time and standing water on the field, the #5 Barry University women's soccer team washed out the Rollins College Tars 5-2 earlier tonight at Cahall-Sandspur field.
Just 15 minutes into the game, midfielder
Tiina Saario intercepted a pass in the middle of the field and fired from 20 yards to give the Buccaneers an early 1-0 lead. However, the Tars answered when Dana Wilcox powered a ball through the hands of Buc goalie
Johanna Fischer to even the game at one a piece.
With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Saario intercepted another pass at the top of the 18-yard box for her second goal of the night and giving the Bucs a 2-1 lead. With 58 seconds left,
Tammie Thornton extended the lead to 3-1 off a pass from
Emelie Karlsson and Pam McDonald.
In the second half, Laura Guild narrowed the gap to one for Rollins scoring a goal off a corner kick from Wilcox inside the six. However, Thornton responded not five minutes later with her second goal to give the Bucs a 4-2 lead with 26 minutes left in the second half. At 70:48,
Colleen Gramlich scored her first goal of the season off a rim shot from 30 yards away leading to the final score, 5-2.

The Buccaneers won their 18th straight game this season improving their record to 18-0-0 overall and 12-0-0 in the Sunshine State Conference, while also concluding their 2002 regular season. The win tied the Bucs' school record for consecutive wins set in 2000. The Tars fell to 10-7-2, and 5-5-1 in the SSC. The Buccaneers now await the final seedings for the south regional and will face off with either West Florida or Christian Brothers next week.
