Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry men's soccer team grounded the Lewis Flyers 4-1 at Buccaneer Field Saturday night.
Senior
Alen Marcina celebrated "Senior Night" with a hat-trick, the fourth of his career, in the first half and the Buccaneer defense made the goals stand up.
Marcina connected just 6:53 into the game for his first goal with assists from
Avi Scabini and
Mike Lupton.
The Flyers, ranked ninth in the NSCAA national poll, knotted the game at 1-1 at the 22:07 mark when Nick Carr slipped a shot past Buc keeper
Ron Goguen.
But Marcina cam back with goals at 33:46 and 35:39 to give the Bucs a 3-1 lead at the half.
The second frame was all Barry with
Kevin Lamy scoring the only goal of the period at 85:29.
Goguen made five saves for the Bucs. Jordan Gustman started for the Flyers and has two saves while allowing three goals. Grant Kane played the second half for the Flyers, making one save and allowing one goal.
Scabini also had assists on Marcina's last goal and on Lamy's to give him 12 for the season. He moved even with John Tovar (12 in 1992) for the school record for a single season.
Barry improves to 13-1-1, while Lewis drops to 14-5-0.
