Box Score TAMPA, Fla.--The Barry University men's soccer team tied the University of Tampa Spartans 1-1 at
Pepin-Rood Stadium Wednesday night.
After a scoreless first half, the Buccaneers finally broke through the stingy Spartan at the 76:45 mark.
Thiago Vasconcelos played a ball through the middle of the penalty box to
Alen Marcina who slotted the ball past Tampa keeper Roy Swarts.
The Spartans tied the game with a penalty kick by Roy Fink at 81:14. Buc keeper
Ron Goguen tripped Fink in the box to set up the penalty kick.
Marcina's goal gives him 33 for his career and ties John Tovar's school record.
The Buccaneers out-shot the Spartans 15-11. Goguen made four saves and Swarts made two. Both teams dodged bullets when backs swept shots off the line.
The tie was the second in a row for Barry, which also tied Christian Brothers. The Bucs are now 6-0-2, 1-0-1 in the Sunshine State Conference. Tampa is now 8-0-2 and 1-0-1 in the league.
The Buccaneers are back in action at home on Sunday at 3:00 pm against Colorado Christian.
