Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla.--The Barry University men's soccer team finally put together a complete effort offensively and defensively, defeating Alabama-Huntsville 2-0 at the UWF Labor Day Classic Sunday afternoon.
Alen Marcina and
Greg Jehs provided the goals and keeper
Ron Goguen made four saves to notch his first shutout of the season.
The Buccaneers completely dominated the Chargers, holding a 23-9 edge in shots, including 11-4 on goal, and a 5-3 advantage in corners.
Marcina's goal, coming at the 38:29 mark came off an assist by freshman
Joey Burg, was his second of the season, giving him 30 for his career, one short of Willie Villalobos for third place on the Barry career list.
Jehs added an insurance goal in the 77th minute off a free kick by
Marco Velez.
The Chargers' Nathan Daniels made nine saves to keep the game close.
Barry improves to 4-0-0, while Alabama-Huntsville falls to 1-1-1. The Buccaneers open defense of their Sunshine State Conference title on Saturday, September 8 when they host the Saint Leo Lions at 7:00 pm.
