Women's Basketball Edged by Lady Indians

Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Barry University women's basketball team was closely matched with Midwestern State, but the Lady Indians edged the Buccaneers 55-50 at the Sports Tours San Antonio tip-off Classic.

In the first half, the Buccaneers shot .421 from the field hitting, but despited shooting well trailed at the half 24-23.

For the game, the Lady Indians shot .276 from the field (16 of 58), but were able to muster 31 second half points to come out on top of the Buccaneers 55-50.

Carolina Santamarina (Jr., G, Miami, Fla.) led the Buccaneers with 11 points and was 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. Loren Weaver (Fr., C, New Milford, Conn.) grabbed a team-high 6 boards.

The Lady Indians were paced by Katrina Jordan, Lindy Lombard, and Martha Sturns with 15, 14, and 10 points respectively and improved to 1-1 on the season.

The Buccaneers (0-2) will return to action on Friday, November 23, at 6:00 p.m. facing off with Vorhees College at the Nova Southeastern Thanksgiving Classic.
