Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.--The Barry University men's soccer team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Florida Southern at Barnett Field in Lakeland, Fla., Wednesday night.
Alen Marcina score the lone goal of the match, taking a long feed from
Marco Velez out of the back and beating Mocs' keeper Johan Linell for the goal. It was Marcina's 13 goal of the season.
The Mocs had plenty of scoring chances as they out-shot the Buccaneers 13-6. But Barry keeper
Ron Goguen made four saves to earn his third shutout.
Barry improves to 11-1-3, 3-1-1 in the Sunshine State Conference. Florida Southern falls to 10-5-0, 2-4-0 in the league.
The win avenges a 3-2 overtime loss to the Mocs last season, the only conference blemish for the Buccaneers in their championship season.
Barry is back in action on Saturday when they host Eckerd at 7:00 pm. The game, the final regular season home game, will be Senior Night for the Buccaneers' three seniors.
