Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Barry University men's soccer team lost a heart-breaking Sunshine State Conference match against Lynn University 1-0 in overtime at McCusker Sports Complex.
The Bucs dominated play throughout the heated match and had numerous scoring attempts but failed to find the back of the net. The Knights battled the Bucs to the end as a copious amount of fouls were handed out to both sides. Several cautions also were given as play intensified.
The Knights were lead by Lee Dukes who scored the game-winning goal off the corner kick from Finn Tomuleuski. Lynn keeper Julien Fruitier posted six saves for the Knights while
Ron Goguen recorded three saves for the Buccaneers. A corner kick by Lynn at
1:30 into overtime gave the Fighting Knights the game-winning goal.
The Buccaneers were lead by
Alen Marcina with six of 13 shots while
James Ryan and
Kevin Lamy contributed to the effort with two shots each. Despite the valiant efforts, the Knights stifled the attempts and the Buccaneers remained scoreless.
This is the first time in 27 consecutive games that Barry has been shut out since losing 1-0 against St. Thomas on September 5th of last year.
The Buccaneers fall to 7-0-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the SSC while the Knights improve to 10-0-0, 3-0-0 in the SSC. The Bucs return to action against Clayton State at Buccaneer Field on Saturday, October 6 at 7:00 PM.
