Box Score 2 LAKELAND, Fla. – It was a good day for the Barry University women's volleyball team capping off two more victories at the Lady Moc Invitational on Saturday. The Buccaneers defeated Bentley College 3-0 and Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras 3-1.
In their first match against Bentley, the Buccaneers swept all three games 30-21, 30-17, and 30-19. As a team, the Buccaneers had 61 kills to the Falcons 29.
Leading the team to victory was a host of Buccaneers
Simone Ferrarezi,
Fernanda Ferreira,
Daniela Lanza, and
Rochelle Magill all of whom led the team with 11 kills. Lanza captured a team high .733 hitting percentage.
In the second match on the day, the Buccaneers had to fend off a tougher Puerto Rican team. The Buccaneers dropped the first game 23-30, but bounced back winning the final three 30-23, 30-27, and 30-27. The Buccaneers had 17 blocks to the Gallitos 7.
Ferrarezi led the Buccaneers with 13 kills on 45 attempts, while
Tricia Stanton and
Karla Bersano both added 11 kills.
With their wins today and the win over North Florida on Friday, the Buccaneers completed a three-game sweep at the Lady Moc Invitational.
The Buccaneers improved to 16-2 and will be back in action on Tuesday, October 16th at Florida Memorial in Miami at 7:30 p.m.
