Taylor Whitney joined the Buccaneers’ athletic training team as the head athletic trainer in the summer of 2026.
Whitney comes to The Shores from Shakopee, Minn., where she worked for the last year at the TRIA Orthopedic Urgent Care. As clinical support staff, she helped triage acute injuries, assisted physicians with procedures and coordinated imaging, referrals and patient education.
Prior to TRIA, she worked two years at Emerson College in Boston, Mass. She served as the primary contact for men’s and women’s tennis, baseball, women’s basketball and men’s soccer. She evaluated and managed injuries, developing rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols.
She also did two years at Boston University as the primary athletic trainer for both tennis programs, field hockey and women’s club rugby, while also working with the ice hockey team. She provided injury evaluation and acute care management. Additionally, she provided coverage across 24 varsity teams, assisting with injury care, rehab, and clinic operations in the athletic training facility.
In addition to her full-time roles, she served in an as-needed role with Boston College, and Curry College and interned with the football at Alabama prior to the 2020 season.
Whitney earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Illinois State in 2021 and a master’s degree in human physiology from Boston University in 2023.
She is certified in basic life support (CPR) by the Red Cross and as an athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and licensed in Massachusetts, Minnesota and Florida.
