Former Buccaneer star Amber Jack rejoined the softball team as assistant coach in the fall of 2025. She enjoyed a stellar career in the circle for the Bucs from 2006-09 and served as assistant coach previously from 2015-17.
During her three seasons as assistant, the Bucs went 78-62, 42-33 in the Sunshine State Conference. She helped mentor 15 All-SSC selections, including 2015 SSC Freshman of the Year Haley Wiseman, five All-Region picks and All-American Dee Espinosa.
Jack spent three seasons at West Virginia Wesleyan as the pitching coach, leading the Bobcats to the to the Atlantic Super Regional twice. In 2012, they went 43-14, winning the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title. In 2014, they compiled a 46-15 record, finished second in the Mountain East Conference and advanced to the Atlantic Super Regionals. In three years, the Bobcats went 121-50.
Jack mentored at least one All-Region pitcher each year at WVWC, including 2014 regional player of the year Jacqui Omichinski.
Jack joined the Bobcats’ softball coaching staff in 2011 after spending two seasons coaching at Defiance College in Ohio. She helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a 38-40 mark in two seasons.
Jack was a four-year starter as a pitcher at Barry and also saw some time at first base. She garnered All-American honors during both her junior and senior seasons, and was also a three-time first-team All-South Region and All-Sunshine State Conference performer earning SSC and Regional Pitcher of the Year recognition in 2008. Jack holds Barry pitching records for shutouts (50), strikeouts (756), wins (91), and saves (10). A remarkable control artist, she issued just 83 free passes in 868.2 innings to set the school mark for fewest walks per seven innings at 0.67. She led the Bucs to the Sunshine State Conference title in 2008 as the Bucs set a school record with a 35-game winning streak. They won the NCAA Division II South Regional and advanced to the D-II Softball World Series at the Sports Festival in Houston, Texas.
She also pitched and played outfield professionally for the Borgerhout Squirrels in Antwerp, Belgium. Jack earned a 6-2 record pitching for the Squirrels and posted a .520 batting average while leading the team to a 2009 European Cup championship.
The Homestead, Fla., native graduated from Barry University in 2009 with a bachelor of arts degree in English literature and obtained a master of arts in education with a concentration in coaching from Defiance College in 2013.
