Patrick Young, a dedicated Miami Shores community leader and volunteer assistant coach for the Buccaneers men’s basketball team, brings over 30 years of basketball teaching experience.
Young joined the Buccaneers in the fall of 2024. Known for his focus on player development and team defense, he previously led St. Rose Varsity Boys to a 2019 All-Catholic Tournament of Champions victory, a school first. Patrick has coached at local travel clubs, summer camps, and skills training classes impacting many young athletes in Miami Shores and the surrounding communities.
Off the court, he supports community outreach through organizations like Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce with events like Green Day, offering free basketball clinics and the Hot Shot shooting contests. He leads our year-round youth basketball program HoopsIQ Training & Development for children K-6th grade including skills training, offensive and defensive team concepts, clinics, school assemblies, camps, and private sessions. His priority is serving his players by helping them achieve their individual and team goals. Inspired by coaches like Rick Pitino, Bob Knight and Ron Reed, Patrick emphasizes defense, conditioning, and leadership.
Besides his coaching responsibilities, Patrick manages a hospitality business offering private and public yacht and boat experiences on the water in Miami. Patrick is married to Angela, with three children: Miles, Lauren, and Stella.
Young earned Bachelor of Science in Horticulture/Turfgrass Management with a minor in Business from Eastern Kentucky in 1999.
