Danny Nunez joined the baseball staff in  2018 as a student assistant coach.

In 2018, the Buccaneers went 22-28 overall, 9-21 in the Sunshine State Conference. Barry went 18-10 at home and put together a season-best eight-game winning streak in March to climb over the .500 mark. Barry posted a 17-8 win over No. 4 Florida Southern, which went on to compete at the NCAA Division II World Series. The Bucs also beat perennial power and 18th-ranked Nova Southeastern, 9-3, in the season finale at home. Outfielders Jonathan Quintana and Andrew Rapoza, and designated hitter Paul Salata earned Second-Team All-SSC honors. Quintana was drafted in the 31st round by the Washington Nationals. 

Nunez played one season for the Bucs after transferring from ASA College in Brooklyn, N.Y. He played in six games and batted .250.
