Ronald W. Shane Watersports Center

19542

Located on the east bank of Indian Creek in the heart of Miami Beach, Barry rowing calls the Ronald W. Shane Water Sports Center home.

The 4,200 square foot facility serves as the boathouse for Barry, University of Miami and Miami Beach Rowing Club, equipped with locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms, a weight room and enough bay space to store over 75 boats. The center underwent an expansion project completed in Oct. 2005 which added an additional 3,500 square feet of storage, meeting and workout space. Completion of the expansion makes the Shane Center one of the finest rowing facilities in the country.

Indian Creek is similarly impressive and an ideal body of water for rowing. It is a protected three-mile stretch of water which opens into Biscayne Bay. In addition, there are several networks of canals linking Indian Creek to Biscayne Bay between the various islands and neighborhoods, providing a variety of options for training sessions. It is also home to a variety of unique South Florida marine life, including manatees and dolphins. These excellent conditions and ideal weather draw countless universities, clubs and high schools to the Shane Center each year for their winter and spring break training trips.
