SENIOR (FALL 2010): Did not participate.

JUNIOR (2009-10): In the spring went 14-2 in singles play and 19-3 in doubles … Battled injuries in the latter part of the season but still posted a 2-0 singles record in th NCAA Finals … Defeated #2 Armstrong Atlantic’s Paul Fitzgerald 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 in the national quarterfinals … Bested #1 Valdosta State’s Michael Kuech 0-6, 6-2, 6-4 with the team down 4-2 … In post season play, tallied an 8-1 doubles record including an undefeated 4-0 mark with partner Andrew Sharnov in the NCAA Finals … Named to the Fall 2009 Athletic Director’s List ... In the fall, took a first-round 6-0,6-1 win over Florida Tech’s Drew Hollis in the ITA Regional Championships ... Defeated Stetson’s Njal Stene in the first round of the C.L. Varner Invitational and advanced to the quarterfinals … On Feb. 15, Barry hosted #4 Valdosta St. and with the match tied at 4-4, Velez defeated Konstantin Kutschenko 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 to give Barry the win.

SOPHOMORE (2008-09): Did not participate in the fall … Joined the team in the spring after transferring from East Tennessee State … Posted a 12-2 singles record and a 25-4 doubles record partnered mostly with Jakub Fejfar … Played anywhere from the #3 to the #6 position in singles and mostly played in the #3 position in doubles … Beat many nationally ranked opponents including #10 Rollins’ Andrew Johnson #6 Hawaii Pacific’s Anton Samuiliu.

CLUB & PREVIOUS COLLEGE: Played one season at East Tennessee State University under Yaser Zaatini … Posted an 8-4 singles record … Went 4-0 in singles in conference play … Helped the team to big wins against Vanderbilt and Temple … Helped the team to an Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in 2007 and a Division I ranking of #33 … Played junior programs in Colombia … Won a national championship as a Colombian Junior in 2005-06.

PERSONAL: Son of Julio and Olga Valez … Majoring in business management
