MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Head coach Braydon Bennett announced the addition of a pair of transfers for the women's golf team ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Sophomore Valentina Cortez joins the Buccaneers this season from UIndy.
"Valentina knows what it takes to improve and works very hard on her game." Bennett said. "She will be a great addition to the team."
Cortez played in 25 rounds across nine tournaments for the Greyhounds as a freshman last year. She compiled a 77.09 stroke average with her best finish coming at the Intercollegiate at Nemacolin on Oct. 20-21 where she tied for 16th.
"I chose Barry because it felt like the right place to challenge myself, grow, and reach my goals both on and off the golf course," Cortez said. "Barry has good academics and a great golf team which will help me move forward."
Junior Iara Martin comes onboard from Arkansas-Little Rock, where she played for two seasons.
"I am very excited to bring Iara onto the team," Bennett said. "She is highly competitive and comes in with a lot of collegiate experience."
Martin played in 54 rounds across 17 tournament with the Trojans during her two seasons. As a sophomore, she registered a 76.51 stroke average in 36 rounds in 11 stroke-play tournaments and one match-play competition. Her best finish was a second-place at the Ohio Valley Conference championship and she won all three of the match-play rounds at the Great River Cup in February. As a rookie in 2025, she posted a 78.75 stroke average in 18 rounds.
"I chose Barry because I wanted something different from my last school," Martin said. "I liked the campus, my new team, and my coach. I am really enjoying it and having a great time!"
Looking to get back to the NCAA Tournament, the Bucs tee off this season at the Eckerd Invitational at Pasadena Yacht & Country Club in Gulfport, Fla., Sept. 21-22.
