Twin Bill Split For Softball Against Tech

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – In the South Florida heat, the Buccaneers were able to split the twin bill against Florida Tech. Prior to the day getting started the Barry Softball team celebrated senior, Harper Bunn.

SUMMARY (GAME ONE):

  • T1 – A one-out double came around to score on an RBI single that gave the Panthers the lead first. | Florida Tech 1, Barry 0
  • B1 – The Buccaneers took the first lead of the day with a two-run inning in the bottom half. Mya Tucker and Serah Shafer led off with back-to-back singles. Harper Bunn then drove in Tucker to even up the game. Shafer used her speed to steal home and give the Bucs the lead. | Barry 2, Florida Tech 1
  • T2 – Florida Tech scratched back for the run taking advantage of a Buccaneer error. | Barry 2, Florida Tech 2
  • B2 – Barry regained the lead for good with a two-run bottom of the second. Sadie Haefeli led off with a double to left center. Maggie Boyd then had a bunt single, which then led to a throwing error that brought in the eventual game winning run. Extra insurance came in after Kiera Strub came in to pinch hit and had a sacrifice fly that brought in another run. | Barry 4, Florida Tech 2

NOTEWORTHY (GAME ONE):

  • Tucker extends her hit streak to eight and on base streak to 20-straight. Her second 20-game streak this season.
  • Samantha Rosenberger threw 5.2 innings to earn the win. She gave up just four hits, one earned run and two walks.
  • Alexis Martin came in and earned the save throwing a perfect 1.1 inning, sitting down all four batters faced.

SUMMARY (GAME TWO):

  • T2 - The Panthers put up a five spot in the second off four hits. Three straight hits started the inning. The big blow came with a bases clearing double. | Florida Tech 5, Barry 0
  • T4 – Florida Tech was able to score a run off an error in the top of the fourth to extend their lead. | Florida Tech 6, Barry 0

NOTEWORTHY (GAME TWO):

  • Kiera Strub had a multi-hit day with two fo the five Buccaneer hits.
  • Vivian Billiard, Harper Bunn, and Maggie Boyd collected the other three hits.
  • Isabel Vera came in a shut down the Panther with 2.2 innings of relief picking up a strikeout and just three hits.
  • Chloe Barber came in a threw three shutout innings of relief with just two hits, and one hit by pitch.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Buccaneers will welcome Tampa for their final series of the season on May 8-9.
